Authors, It’s All About The # 1

Through the years I have noticed that authors make the biggest mistake time and time again. Other types of businesses fall into this same trap.

You can have all the marketing and sales tactics you can ever dream of and that doesn’t work long term.

I know this is not sexy but the fact is it all comes down to the number 1. It’s about making a connection on some kind on a personal level to each person. If you don’t then you will fail. People like D.Wallace Peach and her buddies have figured this out a long time ago.

While I am at it this morning something else has crossed my mind. For those of us who are older, we want to buy things and not be sold things. By the time you reach a certain age, you have heard all the lies and promises.

Blogging Through The Years

I had my first blog post in 2006( yes I am that old) and at the time I went by duke1959 which was ok but over time I started a new blog 1959 duke which lasted just about forever. Due to the fact, there was too much pain and suffering in them I closed it down sometime back. Life really wasn’t much fun at that point. Then comes the question as to why now? Circumstances in life have changed things so much of my life. Frankly writing is my passion and if I don’t follow it now when? The old-time clock of life is just chugging along and of course, I don’t have any idea when it will stop!

Blog Friends, I Do Miss All Of You

For many of us who have wandered around this blog world for decades, we have those times that life’s events take us away from doing what we love. We often try to avoid it happening but it does. The thing is when these things happen there is such a void in our lives.

In many ways, as we age it gets more and more difficult to find the time or the physical ability.

My first blog went by Duke1959 and that later change to 1959 duke and that went for a very long time. Then one day about 6 years ago my world blew up and although I continued to write some I just had to stop it. It just got too emotionally painful to continue.

This one and Duke’s Place are probably my last 2 blogs and in ways that is sad. Then the question comes? What am I going to do with all of these posts?

As I sit here watching my cat looking out the front door as she is basking in the sun. I can’t help but think that we were all like that when we first started blogging. Life seemed so clearly defined.

Now you look back and wonder how all those wonderful people in my blogging world are doing and I hope their blogging advaentiure has been worth the trip?
