As with any other early morning of not being able to sleep because I know I have an old friend who awaits.
My Pepsi zero is nice and cold when I reach for it in my refrigerator.
All writers have a go-to drink to when they sit down and for me, it’s Pepsi zero. I don’t know there is just something I enjoy.
So to you my friend thanks for being by my side, especially on these early mornings.
While lying in bed tossing and turning many with a passion for writing realize it’s just another night like all the rest.
For those who love to write it is an addiction that can never stop being fed.
Then of course you have those small things called “life events” that take away your time to write and withdrawal happens. This cycle goes on and on until other “life events” happen that stop you from writing for good.
So when your next night of tossing happens ( could be tonight) crawl out of bed, grab your favorite drink and go feed that addiction.
When we begin to write we often have a mindset that we want to become a certain kind of writer. The thing is that it can diminish your creative thoughts. Sure there are basic concepts in writing but I think that as writers we need to ask ourselves one question.
Am I truly being honest with myself or am I trying to fit into a certain genre? Those can be two different things altogether and can lead to years of frustration. I know there are sometimes social pressures that can push you in a certain direction. Then inevitably this leads to the ultimate question.
How much are you willing to compromise and ignore the kind of writing that you were meant to write?
